Gepco was incorporated on 25th April 1998 and permitted to commence business on 5th of June 1998. Govt of Pakistan decided to make a setup who can deal with the all resource of water for the generation of electricity to meet the requirement of the country, so WAPDA department was formed. It was the second biggest manpower department in Pakistan after the Pak Army.
In early 1998 WAPDA we divided into two main sector WAPDA and PEPCO (Pakistan Electric Power Company). Where as now WAPDA only deal with the water resources and PEPCO deals with GENCO’s (Generation Companies) NTDC (National Transmission and Dispatch Company) and DISCO’s(Distribution Companies)

WHAT IS FPA IN GEPCO BILLS?
FPA stands for fuel price adjustment. it is charge applies in the GEPCO bill by the (NEPRA) . It is not a constant charge it vary with the time and have different rate in the Gepco bill in every month.

TAXES APPLIES ON GEPCO BILL BY THE GOVT
- ED= (1.5% of cost of electricity)
- NJ =(1% of units consumed)
- GST= (Cost of electricity+E.D+FC Sur)×17%
- FC=Surcharge (Units consumed ×0.43)
- LPS=(Cost of electricity+N.J+FC Sur)×0.1
- QTR= (Units consumed ×1.61)
NOTE:
QTR applies when the number of consumed units are above 300. After that the GST also calculate as
GST with QTR ((Cost of electricity+E.D+FC Sur+QTR)×17%
